hello all. my first time too, I think it has to be something you take in your stride, you have worked on your story, edited, edited again and polished it, now it's up to strangers to decide how it fits into what they are looking for, but you have done all you can so be excited for that; it's success. Success (I think) is enjoyed on different levels, you finished your story, an achievement in itself, you have decided it good enough for other people to judge, and more than likely this whole process will give you confidence and probably ideas for new stories. We write because we have stories we want other people to read and at least this competition fulfills that need... again success. GOOD LUCK and Regards Paul.
Oh yes, it's my first attempt at writing a short story too. Like all first timers, I am nervous and hopeful at the same time.
Nervous, as apart from those of us who are first timers, I am also competing together with other experienced writers and am worried that I may not have the flair that most writers have.
Hopeful in a way too, as we can never tell what the judges are looking for. Anyway, good sense prevails, come what may, I'll just face it with gusto. :-D
