Wattpad

Good Day. Have you heard about Wattpad, a site where you can upload your book. What are your views about sites like that? When you publish your work on these sites that does not pay commission, can you still find a publisher to publish the book in hardcopy and then get commission for that?

Thank you. Kind Regards.

Wattpad actively encourages the public to download its stories. That means they're for public consumption, thus 'published'. The site is full of Fan Fiction, Romance and Fantasy - it's possibly a good place to post work if you're into these genres and want exposure. I suspect regular contributors of popular work at least then have an idea their stuff may be saleable.

As for finding a publisher for posted work, I doubt anyone would take it on without a least the promise of more of the same unless it's very good, or maybe very bad. 50 Shades began as internet-posted (ie published) fan fiction apparently, and look how that sold once a cute publisher picked it up.
