What books would you like, or intend to read again?

What books have had the most profound affect on you?

What books do you intend to read again?

I have just finished reading Jane Eyre. I was blown away by the last hundred pages of the Charlotte Bronte classic.

I hope to find the time to read Jane Eyre again.

I am about a quarter of the way through Villette by Charlotte Bronte. I already know it will be anothere great read.

The first full-length novel I ever read was Frances Hodgson-Burnett's A Little Princess and it is the only book I consistantly return to. I've read it in each decade of my life so far and it reads differently every time. It's still my favourite book, although I admit nostalgia has much to do with that.

William Horwood's 'The Stonor Eagles' is a favourite, as is Gallico's short 'The Snow Goose'. The birds are just coincidence (!).

As for effect, 'Black Beauty', 'A Kestrel For A Knave', 'White Fang'. Jeez - all animal books again.

Peter Scott's biography 'Eye of the Wind' surprised me, as did the Grzimeks' 'Serengeti Shall Not Die.'

Maybe not so much of a coincidence then.
