I'm not sure if anyone can help me with this but here goes anyway...... my father passed away over 3 years ago and his dream was to get his children's ideas books published. He wrote a quite a few of them and also illustrated them himself. Personally I think they are are great but I am not good enough to try to carry the books on.
Can anyone help me to try to get the books seriously looked at? I do not want to raise my mother's hopes to no avail but I would love for my father's dream to come true.
Hi Lisa,
Firstly I would like to say what a sweet story and no matter what your intentions I hope it works out well.
I agree with the others, see if you can find an agent to represent you but nevertheless don't sit still. Maybe you should consider going to your local newspaper. The local newspaper loves a story that tugs at the heart. Stories that I was told by my father now in print long after he left how sweet is that. Maybe you could even have an extract of the story in the paper... See If anyone decides to pick it up from there. You could consider self publishing one and see what happens.
Please keep us all up-to-date with your lovely story.
Kind regards Damien
Have you thought of trying a couple as E-books, Lisa? If they go well publishers might be more inclined to listen.
Good luck with your project..
rosa.
Hmm, try getting some agents in that part of the field and send the works to them(atleast a copy/scan or something) and send it out to multiple agents at once. Once you do that wait, you might get accepted and then you'll truly be on a journey to publish your father's works.
Try getting the Writers and Artists Yearbook, it has a list of all agents and a ton of useful things. If you need anything else feel free to ask. :)
