What does it take to be a writer?

Natural creativity, inspiration, a degree in English literature or the English language? Perhaps its one or a combination of those mixed with Ingredient X.

Sheer bloody-mindedness.

I can't think of any other reason to put oneself through it.

Its an interesting question as always from Adrian.

I have no degrees, but can count a good grounding in the English language.

A Court clerk. at for example the OJ Simpson trial, may have had the University qualifications to take notes but it will be the degreeless court bystander that puts it all together with a beating heart that writes the best seller.

I wrote one of my best short stories for Pulp Modern #6 JFK called "Kingslayer" about the assassination of John F Kennedy. Based entirely on a derogatory remark about the wedding car my brother and his bride had used on the big day. I had totally forgotten about it.Until I posted a very old picture of the happy couple and their wedding car on Facebook. And somebody made a comment. And everything, as they say fell into place.

So its just about seizing the day and using what ever you have to put it on the page.

So, no, you don't need any particular background or qualifications .;D# Just the determination to write it down and tell a good story. And luck, lots of luck.
