After a year (?) on this site, reasonably active both on Q&As and reviewing others' shared work, I have finally taken the plunge and uploaded my first [solo] shared work. Since there isn't a genre "speculative fiction" offered (but the title hints at that), I've filed it under "literary". It's a submission to La Gr@not@'s "Stranger(s) In A Strange Land" project: flash fiction to benefit refugees, http://la-granota.com/stranger.htm
At 162 words (not including the introduction and title), it shouldn't take up much of your time. It's entitled "What if..." and can be found here: https://www.writersandartists.co.uk/profile/wilhelmina-lyre/work/58873c85387140120f8b4569
I apologise in advance for the following sermon. But "What if..." writers and artists on this web-site (and in general) had a little more feeling of solidarity with those MUCH worse off than themselves? After months and months of repeatedly pushing this project under your noses, the response has been, frankly, pathetic! (Not - I must add - in quality: a HUGE thank you to Victoria Fielding, Hache L. Jones, Helen Jones, and Clare Williams! Not to mention my co-workers Emilie and Jimmy.)
I don't know how many questions I have read here in that time: "How do I get my work published?" And then, when an opportunity is handed you on a plate... zero.
Due to the paltry QUANTITY of submissions so far, the deadline is being waived... which will jeopardise having the book printed in time for the Barcelona book fair in April... but how much call is there going to be for a book of 24 pages?
Sermon over... Back to my broomstick!
Here's another of mine. Bang on the 486-word limit! Again, no "speculative fiction" offered, no "science fiction", so - again - "literary". Title: "2021 – A Spaced Odyssey", location: https://www.writersandartists.co.uk/profile/jimmy-hollis-i-dickson/work/58874c82387140691d8b4569
(BTW, I've had zero comments on another piece, never submitted [to another flash-fiction competition], but I would like feedback... https://www.writersandartists.co.uk/profile/jimmy-hollis-i-dickson/work/5876c6273871406b618b4569)
