I agree that 50 Shades will not stand the test of time.
For me the test of a novel is whether it's re-readable. Also, can it be reinterpreted and reinvented. Good literature is born of great literature and vice versa.

In my opinion the test of time
Some books are faddy.... will we still want to read them in 100 years time, like we do Jane Austen and Shakespeare (I'm thinking 50 Shades here)
Will people still be reading Harry Potter 100 years from now ?
