This was one of the questions asked at a seminar, I, and other writers attended. Initially, no-one had any idea, but then gradually, it was amazing what some writers thought of.
So I ask you, what would your character kill for?

Well, If had to say, my character killing someone would depend on certain aspects:-
-His feelings towards the other character he/she wants to kill
-The character's reason and purpose behind doing so
-Well, simply put- The character's Character, what he or she is like
-The Possible Outcome of the Murder(everybody, even a reluctant murderer would think of this)
The answer to my question in the forum lol ;-)
Ask yourself in any situation where two characters or more meet in your novel, or in a novel you have read.
What do the characters want or hope to gain out of their present situation?
You have to know what your protagonist wants. His ambitions. His desires. It is vital to the plot and storyline. It is what motivates the protagonist to act and react to any given situation. It creates tension and keeps the pages turning.
You can't have a protagonist who doesn't really want or need anything.
The protagonist has to learn and grow throughout your novel.
