I have recently bought, Anton Chekhov's Selected Stories - Norton
A must buy for short story writers.

Alice Munro, the progress of love (Nobel Prize winner 2013), recommended by my OU tutor as the expert at creating an 'over-arching theme' which allows the writer to introduce more characters in a short story. Her plots are about family and everyday affairs, seemingly mundane, but quite gripping.
