Where are the Editor's details?

Hi everyone. I have written a book and a synopsis and have headed here as apparently this is the place to find where to send them. I've looked all over the site but can't find these details. Is it a game? If you try to Google which editors to send details to you are inundated with those self publishing companies. I want to at least try sending my details to a proper Editor just for the experience if nothing else.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Cheesy please?

Be careful Heather, you may be in for a long wait in a slush pile and you won't know if/when your m/s has been discarded. This can be intensely frustrating. You could try a competition.. the first 10,000 words perhaps. You will at least have a date after which you can either rejoice or try something else.

Best wishes,

rosa.

Hi Pablo J

It is a true life diary/memoir on a current issue but written with humor and with a bit of a storyline as well as a bit of tragedy and a hint of tongue in cheek.

The only book I can find which is similar is based in America and I am in the UK. I think it is different as it also has a different angle from the other one.

Thanks - I will get on to it tomorrow :)

Hi Heather.

Click on listings, then search for agents, publishers, editors, et-cetera. You can try a few additional words, such as Agents, Romance. Don't put too many words in the search bar. The search facility is not so user-friendly as say Amazon's, and of course agents don't always list what they 'do' but often what they 'don't do', so as to deter people.

When you do find some, look them up on their own websites and see how closely they match your requirements.

In my experience (not huge I grant you), most will say something like 'not taking any unsolicited material now'.

The important thing at this stage, is to telephone or email someone at the place. emails can take a while to be answered, and if you go for someone senior on the phone, you probably won't get past the PA or receptionist. So see if you can identify a possible contact a little lower down the food chain. But whoever it is, get their name and if/when you speak with them, use that name. Be gracious and thank them for their time, even if they don't want to know. Ask if you can send this person your contact details anyway, you never know, they may come back to you later.

What genre are you writing in?

Good luck. Please let us know how you get on.
