Note that is a distinct question to 'where DO you write', which has been asked before.
My prompt being, my mother has just called upstairs (I am living at home until I complete my degree, symptomatic of the writer) to say "Dinner's ready!"
And I have replied, in a moment of utter mental abstraction, "OK, bye."
Go figure!
The point being, does anyone else, like me, have a mental level they can slip into, anytime, anywhere? Or does it have to be in the tool shed with a cup of tea and a candle? I can write at work, in the car, in the bath, almost anywhere. But I wonder if some writers can't?
I have learned that I can write anywhere, but I shouldn't. It's not so bad if I'm writing a short story because if I have to stop and pick that up somewhere else, it's not too much of a problem. My family can testify to me not even bothering to nod and smile while scribbling on car journeys to family days out wher ethey hope to claim my attention! More often than not, I'm working on my five book series. Working on that anywhere other than a small dull room with no view causes me continuity issues.
I, too, can write most places. If I am not actively writing then I am thinking about what I am writing or what I need to re-write. Unfortunately I drive to work so can't write when in the car or there would be quite a few accidents along the route.
I would agree. Earlier my wife was asking me a question and I looked up.
"Muh?" was my response.
