Where do I start?

Hi, I'm new to this site. I've recently written a book proposal for a craft book and not quite sure where to go from here. I was in contact with an initial publisher but they have rejected it. So, for my next step, is it best to look for an agent or go direct to publishers?

TIA

Do your homework. Find yourself a number of publishers of books in a similar vain, and approach all of them. Look in bookshops: who publishes the sort of book you want yours to be? Note their name(s) and look them up in the W&A listings.

There's no right or wrong way: but if you choose to look for an agent, make sure it's one with the relevant background. Do you know why it was rejected? Have you addressed the problem, or was it just that they didn't think it would sell? Is the book itself anywhere near ready, in case someone asks to see it? You can work on that while you're looking.

Good luck!
