Why do You write?

Is it for: fame? money? or some other reason?

Back when I was in junior school I was severely bullied to the point of wanting to commit suicide; I couldn't deal with it any more. One of the teachers (the only one to do anything) gave me a green A4 school notebook and told me I could do what I wanted in it; scribble, draw, write whatever would help me. My bestfriend (and only friend at the time) and I wrote a story called Locker 13 about the world having only one person in it and having to find herself and her family at a time when there was so much horror and death; this in a sense resembled me at that moment in time. As corny as it sounds, writing saved my life and I continue to do so now, particularly when I'm feeling down and alone. I wouldn't mind having work published and becoming famous but for me, writing is a way to let go and be safe. It literally saved my life and is something I could not live without now.
