The winners of our competition.

No, not that competition: THIS competition.

Several months ago I announced, on this W&A site and on behalf of La Gr@not@, a competition. http://la-granota.com/party.htm

Although - as far as I'm aware - only 3 users of this site contributed to the project*, and they were all members of the jury and therefore debarred from winning the prize, having announced the competition here, I think it only fair to announce the results here.

The jury decided to include in the book (Alice And I) all but one of the entries submitted. Due to the relatively small number (17) of entrants and the generosity with which they were willing to contribute, we decided to change the parameters of the book. (Originally we were going to allow each entrant to fill 2 pages of A5 size. We scrapped this idea and allowed as much room as was needed.)

So we've ended up with an A5-sized paperback book of 60pp (not including the cover), 35 of them in full colour. There is, in fact, more graphic art than written work. Aside from a very small response from children, we're quite happy with the result, and hope that it will generate money for the 3 causes to which all profits will be destined.

You can view the front and back covers at http://la-granota.com/list.htm (2nd book from the bottom at time of this posting).

It only remains for me to announce that it was decided to share the first prize of 90€ between 2 entrants: Lori St. Clair [Canada] and Holly Khan [the UK].

* Tell a lie: One other submission came from a site user, but too late to be included in the book. We're hoping to include it in a 2nd edition, IF we sell the whole of the 1st edition.
