Word Counts?

What is the genre and word count of your work? And what audience are you primarily aiming you work towards?

My first (and to date only) manuscript is just under 97k words after 6 rounds of editing. In terms of genre, I'll say Hard-boiled, Sci-Fi.

Beyond that, I have been writing a few short stories/novellas whose original purposes were forged in a desperate attempt to earn some cash. Now they serve the more noble purpose of helping me to increase my presence within the vast sea of fiction writers on a Wordpress site that I created recently.

As far as audiences go, I'll take anyone who will read them (or better yet give me a contract to publish).

I'm going for Young Adult audience with a bit of Urban Fantasy+ Urban Sci-Fi kind of work. Though it's much more fantasy than sci-fi, the goal is 90k. I'm at 10k at the moment in the first draft.

Historical military fiction.

My two stories so far have ended up at 113k and 112k words. I aim for 90k, expect 100k, end up with nearly 120k and cut. Well - the first book worked that way but for the second I ended at around 105k and added.

Audience? Anyone who'll read it :) I get quite a lot of Sharpe fans (it's the same period) and more ladies than I might have expected, which is rather nice.
