How many words do you write in a day?

I aim for 500-600.

Graham Greene advocates 300 words a day. That's 2100 words a week, 109,200 a year. Enough for a novel and a good start to book two.

I don't go for a particular word count per day, nor do I write every day. My current project I have been writing since April. I have completed 42,500 words. I decided to edit and it has been reduced to 38,500. I have not written at all in September. I run a B&B on my own so when I get busy I don't have time to write.

Jimmy, you may lose all the 300-600 in the final cut, but the ideas will remain, and I'm sure that the rewriting will be much better.

Bernard Cornwell says he writes around 1500 a day. Well, he does write full time.
