Writing a novel

I've written loads of short stories and expanded into articles and poems, yet I haven't even attempted a novel. I want to try doing one but need advice on where to start. Thanks in advance :)

First build your main character, and then the the setting or the world where your character will be etc. Keep on building the characters you'd want, ( before all this decide on a genre).

Then the next step is organizing the plot using the characters, like any other short story etc, after you create a basic story, you can slowly develop it. And if you can, the best thing to do is plan your ending. And then the rest is just heading towards the ending.
