writing a series

Of course it's possible - but highly unlikely for most of us!

You need to be prepared to put in the hours of hard work - which JKR most certainly has done - and to do so accepting that fame and fortune may never happen. You must accept that publishers are in this game for the money, and the writer seems always to come off last in the pay stakes.

You can write to a formula, and make steady cash that way; you could write the next Fifty Shades and sell millions; you could come up with the next Big Thing, and be a star. But you can't count on any of it.

Still, we're all only human, and there's always hope. Got to be in it to win it, as they say - so keep writing.
