Finding Your Voice in YA Fiction

2nd March 2021 7:00pm to 8:30pm, Online

This event is now sold out.

Voice can sound like a scary, abstract word for writers. But it needn't be. Voice is simply about finding out who you are and the unique way in which you – and only you – can tell your story.

In this session, which makes up part of our Children's & YA Fiction Festival, author Alexandra Sheppard looks at how writers of Young Adult fiction can develop their unique writing voice. From sentence structure and tone, to establishing mood and atmosphere as well as creating distinct voices for each one of your characters, you'll leave this workshop with tools that can be applied to your own writing and help create a strong narrative.

Exclusive Content

All attendees reserving a place at this event also receive free access to An Introduction to Children's Publishing in 2021, a video interview with Alysoun Owen, Editor of the Writers' & Artists' Yearbook and the Children's Writers'  & Artists' Yearbook. A link to the interview will be circulated by email ahead of the festival, and remain available to view for one week.

We are partnering with independent bookshop Bear Hunt Books and attendees will have the opportunity to purchase all festival books directly with them.
