Calling all UK-based writers with a passion for audio storytelling! The Pen to Print Audio Play Competition 2023, in partnership with Alternative Stories, is now open for entries. We're on the hunt for original, innovative plays designed specifically for listening, offering an exciting opportunity for emerging writers to showcase their work on a global stage.
The winner of the competition will receive a Tablet PC and the incredible opportunity to work with Alternative Stories in the full production of their winning audio play. This includes collaborating with Alternative Stories actors for casting, direction, and character tone and delivery, as well as assisting in designing soundscapes and music. The winning writer will also have the opportunity to play a small cameo role in the production and receive full credit in all branding for the production.
This truly unique opportunity is not to be missed. To enter, simply submit:
- Your audio play (ideally 30 minutes long and limited to 5,000 words)
- A synopsis of the story (limited to 250 words)
Do make sure to tailor your manuscript for audio drama. Be sure to include stage directions and reference sounds or tones of voice to make your vision come alive. Your play should have at least two characters, preferably four or five.
