Writing Love

Writing Love

Valentine's Day is just around the corner from this masterclass, and love is in the air. Whether you want to craft love stories romances that would rival Romeo and Juliet's, bring together the most unlikely of lovers (or the people we all hoped would get together from the beginning) or write your own Bridget Jones-esque rom-com, this masterclass will help you hone your craft when it comes to writing love.  Author Bethany Rutter (Welcome to Your Life, Melt My Heart) will be sharing her creative process, as well as key learnings she has taken from publishing three novels. She will be taking you through the key ingredients of a love story, helping you understand how to create characters and a storyline that readers are emotionally invested in and moved by. But she will also be sharing her insight into how writers can disrupt some of the standard tropes of romance, to write characters and love stories that don't always conform.  As a writer of both adult fiction and YA, she will also sharing her thoughts on what writers need to take into account when writing for younger audiences vs. adult audiences, and what the editorial and publishing processes look like for both. 15 minutes will be reserved for a Q&A at the end of the masterclass. This masterclass will be online, video platform to be confirmed. It will also be recorded so if you are unable to attend live, you'll be able to catch-up and access the recording for up to two weeks.
