Writing Weird Fiction

Writing Weird Fiction

Are you a writer with offbeat, 'difficult-to-categorise' story ideas?  Come and find your fellow writers and develop your skills at Kirsty Logan's evening workshop on writing weird things.  There are so many brilliant books that are that little bit out of step with those you’d typically associate as belonging to a particular genre, and if you consider yourself to be writing one of your own then this masterclass really is for you! We’ll look at what it means to be producing writing that’s destined for the slipstream between literary fiction and genre fiction: how to do it well, how to stay true to your ideas… but also how to give your book the best chance of market appeal.’ Through a combination of practical advice, discussion, and writing exercises, Kirsty will show you how to create characters, structures, and settings that go beyond the familiar and don't fit neatly into classification.  There will be approx. 15 minutes reserved for Q&A at the end of the workshop. If you'd like to submit a question to Kirsty in advance, please send it to writersandartists@bloomsbury.com.
