On Tuesday 26th March, judge of the Writers & Artists Short Story Competition 2013, Tania Hershman, will announce the winners at a special event at the Bloomsbury Institute. Liars’ League is a monthly live fiction night where professional actors read short stories by new writers. At this awards ceremony and live fiction evening, Liars’ League actors will bring the stories to life with performances of the winning entries.
Tania Hershman will announce the winners and present them with their prizes at this evening of live short story readings, as well as reading one of her own prize-winning short stories. The event is open to all and tickets are £10 or £6 for students, including a glass of wine. Tickets can be bought on the Bloomsbury Institute website.
The Writers & Artists Short Story Competition 2013 is still open for entries until 15th February 2013 and is open to both published and unpublished writers alike. The first prize is a week-long Arvon course, £500, publication on www.writersandartists.co.uk and the unique opportunity to hear your story performed at this event. Two runners up will also have their stories performed at the event.
See here for full competition details.
Tania Hershman is a writer and editor of the forthcoming Writers & Artists Book of the Short Story. Her collections include My Mother Was An Upright Piano: Fictions and The White Road and Other Stories. Her stories have won various prizes, been nominated for a Pushcart Prize, been published in print & online, broadcast on BBC Radio 4 and performed.
Will shortlisted short story writers be invited to this evening anyway, or would one they have to buy a ticket?
And can anyone tell me when the shortlist will be announced?
Many thanks
Debbi
I've entered too, more for the practice and the challenge than anything as I'm a real novice at this.
I re-wrote my story many times. The whole thing went through a sort of metamorphoses before reaching it's final stage, even now I'm not sure it's good enough to compete with many of the very talented writers and brilliant short stories I've read on here, however I enjoyed the process immensely.
Good luck everyone.

Sounds good going to miss it :(
