Would just like to share here that I've won the Scottish Book Trust's 50 Word Fiction Competition! The prompt was to write a piece of historical fiction in no more than 50 words- thought some would be interested after the recent historical fiction competition on this site. You can read my entry here: http://scottishbooktrust.com/writing/love-to-write/the-50-word-fiction-competition Any feedback would be much appreciated!
It was quite challenging to write a story with such a short word count. Have you read/written any flash fiction? My favourite one I've read so far is attributed to Ernest Hemingway: For sale: Baby shoes, never worn.
Thanks Adrian, Ashwerya, and PabloJ- I hope to be writing some new material soon!
Congratulations Jenna. Gracian said 'a good thing when short is twice as good'. Your piece is very good but then you already know that, having won first prize.
Try putting something longer in place now. Perhaps start by writing 55 words then work your way up to 100. (Sorry - feeble attempt at a joke there.)
Well done and please post some other stuff for us to read.
PabloJ.
Congrats Jenna, loved your piece.
