An answer from a literary agent

Most agents do not tell you how long you need to wait to hear from them. What long it should take?

Agree with Damien. Having reached out to through email-I have a reply from over 90% of my queries with a clear date for reply. And the clear statement that if I hear nothing, assume it is a rejection.

As Damien said most literary agents will clarify this in their submissions policy. It's usually around 3 months, and hopefully at this point they would tell you either way

Hi Dorota,

I had to dispute that. I have found 99% of agents will tell you a timescale to wait. This is usually listed in their submissions guidelines. Mostly it depends on the agent. Its usually 8 to 12 week and they often add if you do not hear from us by this time take it that we are not interested.

Hope that helps you out....
