Archaic words

Should we use archaic words to impart an old fashioned flavor to our works or should we go for words that are used today?

If it's poetry and drama the arxhaic words are better

Why not both? It is a shame, in my opinion, to let old words die and be replaced with newer and simpler ones however I do enjoy using the modern ones as well and so I fuse them together.

Any writing and especially poetry should be free from time. Also, by using the old english language you are exposing a newer generation to 'new' words and phrases that otherwise they maybe wouldn't have come to know.

So in my opinion, write anything and everything in all forms you choose and if you feel that what you need to express is better suited by using archaic words then do it, there is no right or wrong answer to your question. Anything goes but make sure you know exactly what the old word implies and if you are using it correctly.
