I've been having this argument for a while. My boyfriend seems to think that physical books will eventually die out and will be replaced by ebooks entirely. I always argue there will always be people that love the feel of a new book, the smell and the actual physicality of having that book! Almost like a trophy! What say you? Are books dying?
God, I hope not!
I'm scared physical books may die out... I mean, I Love them... the touch of rough paper, the smell of new books- Old books from second hand bookshops....
I'm not into e-book reading, coz honestly, the bookmarking system confuses me, and i need to be SUPER hooked to continue staring at words on screen (but Divergent was successful, in this case)
But after reading your possitive comments, You can say i'm a little less afraid
I think eventually e-books will take over the day to day reading for most people. I'm with Emma, I love my Kindle. I don't have any spare space in my house for books but I have infinite space on my Amazon cloud. It's also light to carry around with me and allows me to change between books. That's not to say I don't buy 'real life' books still, but I tend only to buy the big photo books like cook books that way now (or if for some reason it isn't available on Kindle)
I don't think real books will ever die out for collectors and enthusiasts though. My non fiction sells really well on Kindle but I'm forever being told by readers that they liked it so they bought the 'real' version so they could keep it. I'm sure that is the same of a lot of books too.
