Hi again,
There's an event happening on the 20th May in London about how to edit your work, I was just wondering if it was worth me attending as I haven't completed my novel yet. Is it still worth me attending for the advice and experience?

Hi Kim,
The first draft is for getting the story down as completely as you can. The second is for changing and chopping out what doesn't belong or putting in what needs to be added.
The third is for fine detailing. In fact you can go on editing until the cows come home, unless you get to a point where you are satisfied that it's the best it can be.
It won't end there - you'll have proofs to read and correct too, because you will always miss something.
By May 20th, you will hopefully have progressed much further with your novel - it's two months and more away, after all. You will need to know how to edit constructively, so it won't be wasted; and it will help you with the second draft.
Worth going, I'd have said, if you're not used to reading as an editor.
Every day's a school day, as they say, and adding to your writing skills is always useful.
Go for it: you'll meet other writers, too, so it will be doubly useful.

Never mind how much you've done, its best to go as you can soak in all the good advice.
That's why I joined for this website so that I can get good advice and be inspired by other authors! I hope it goes okay for you on here
Much love,
Kay
I should add that I'm only half way through the first draft...
