Does anyone have advice on how to write a blurb for a collection of short stories (or novelettes, in my case.) I've been reading loads of articles on book blurbs and get the general idea how to go about it - but nothing really applies to short stories. My novelettes are connected but otherwise vary wildly in theme, style and genre.
What I have done is 'collect' various short stories together and mould them round a single theme.
For instance; I worked on a book of short stories about life in Cornwall, but ran out of content; I searched my other short stories and was able to 'modify' many of them to fit the Cornish scene. An example; a story about 'the Pork Pie forests near Melton Mowbray' was easily changed to 'the Cornish Pasty forests near Bodmin'.
Of course you do need a largish stock of 'old' short stories!
I guess you can throw in snippets of what the stories are about in a very exciting, and sometimes cheesy manner to attract readers. Got to make readers think why should I read this collection of stories ahead of someone else's. I guess the idea for writing is to be heard!
All the best :)
