Childrens Story...help!

by Joanna Palmer

Hi

I am a primary school teacher and I have just finished my first attempt at a children's story book that I have been wanting to write for years. My dream is to have the story published but I do not know where to start!

I feel that I may be out of my league looking at the quality and target audience of some of the writers on this website but I don't know where to go!

Any advice would be very much appreciated!

Hi Jo

As Antoinette has advised, The Writers and Artists Yearbook would be the best place to look but make sure that you get the Children's one (lime green cover) as opposed to the 'adult' (red cover) one. It has the same quality of advice and articles but all from childrens authors, illustrators, etc. You will find a dedicated list of childrens agents in there. It will save you a lot of time, although you can trawl through the 'red' one, sifting agents out.

Try the Writer's and Artists year book, if I'm right that has a list of agents.
