The Chronicles of Narnia

I'm currently reading the fantastic childrens books about Narnia. Putting aside the continuity errors, which can be explained by the fact Lewis never intended to write seven books, (the books are numbered 1-7 in reading order but in published order they actually go 2,4,5,6,3,1,7, if you get what I mean) I find the stories kind of heartbreaking. Many of them seem to have a happy/sad ending. Does anyone who has ever read them feel the same?

Funny story about how I came to read them.

I'm pretty sure they were a tenth birthday present, accoring to the writing inside the cover, I was in year 6 and I definitely remember reading them around that time.

I got to book 6, and I have vague memories of struggling to get into it. Then I think I got into the latest Potter book and it took me two months to finish it...though that was because I put it down and read nothing for about a month.

When I finally finished Potter 5 I tried to go back to Narnia 6 and attempted to read from where I left it. Which was a disaster and for some reason, I lost interest in the books and I never got half way through book 6 and I never read 7...until I was about 19.

I just picked them up read right the way through and read the Last Battle in a day.

Ever since I've written fanfics, LOADS of them.

I love the Narnia books! I passed my set onto my daughter and she is just starting to read them as well. I can read them over and over, Lewis had a wonderful way with description as well as the characters - they truly are classics.

I absolutely agree with you. They remain amongst my favourite books & as a child I used to cry at the end of every one because I didn't want them to come to an end!
