Couples

I'm writing a story centred around a couple. And having no experience on the subject want to know how you interact with your partner or ex partners.

How do you behave around the other?

I don't want to make them seem awkward with each other because they're married but I don't want them to seem perfect.

Any help? I'm really struggling.

What would help immensely is a summary of each character, their jobs, desires, how they react to stress, what they like to do in their spare time. Things like that. You can then craft appropriate emotional and physical responses based on the pasts of your characters. After all, I'm sure the way that we all here, in this community, react to things, is based on our personal experiences and characters we've built in our own lifetimes. You don't need to have been /or be in a relationship to be able to craft effective responses to other peoples external input on yourself. Friends and family for example - the principle is still the same.

Here's an idea though - go onto Netflix or wherever, and watch the pilot episode of House of Cards and look at the loving, yet sinister relationship between Spacey's character and his wife. I think this is fantastic writing personally.

Good luck!
