I'm thinking about enrolling on a creative writing course during the summer holidays and I was wondering if anybody had done a particular course and felt that they got a lot out of it. Several I've researched look brilliant, but I'm sure there are heaps others I haven't come across. Thank you for your help!
Most unis run adult learning courses and most of them have creative writing classes. My local, Cardiff uni, had a great one tutored by a novelist turned ghostwriter - Lynne Barratt-Lee. Her experience was invaluable and she remains in contact with her students long after the courses (through Facebook) hoping to hear of those published.
I think the difference with her is that she is a writer who teaches as a hobby, not the other way around. I would certainly recommend finding someone like that.
Hi everyone - thank you so much for taking the time to answer. I've had a look at both of the course suggestions, and they look really good - I hadn't seen either before so thank you both!
Adrian - yes, that's a good idea. I've been meaning to for a while because I've read all his novels and a collection of his short stories. I have a copy somewhere awaiting my attention - so you've definitely prompted me into it! I'm sure it'll be a great place to start, at least.
Thanks all!
A creative writing course makes you write, for a few weeks you will become highly productive.
