Drafts

How many drafts do people do before their work is finished? I know my works are not completed yet as I am only on my second draft on some, some are still on the first draft, but I wondered roughly what people find works best for them :)

I entered a competition recently and, when writing my entry, I did two drafts - this is UNHEARD of from me! I never draft, really - just pick away at bits that are niggling me or change around word order. Maybe I'll add bits or take away, but I have never before started a completely new draft. I think that's mainly because I try to get things how I like it the first time - my opinion might change later, but at the time I probably thought it was all brilliant!

Hey honey, I finished my original draft of my book about 2 years ago !! :( and I am still improving, but i had an awful lot to learn. It all depends on you really. I think the problem I have is I have no confidence in my ability, so when people comment I try to take on board their points and change my writing. I don't always agree with everything but I can also see their points have value and will make my writing better. lol I feel I may never finish.....
