Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone had made use of the editorial services offered on this site and if so, did you find it useful?

It's also not clear what the payment method is. Does anyone know if its through paypal?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

If you have any questions regarding our editorial services, please do feel free to email us at writersandartists@bloomsbury.com

Although some of our editorial services include a 50% line edit, we also offer bespoke editorial services, meaning that we can cater for any editorial need you might have. Whether it is a straight read and review of your whole manuscript, a line-by-line edit, or a complete proof-read, we can accommodate.

We can take payment over the phone, or online where cards can be used. We can also arrange bank transfers with our Accounts team, if you would prefer. Unfortunately, we do not have the web functionality to use PayPal at the moment, however your comments will certainly be taken on board for future updates.

All best,

Writers & Artists

[copied from a previous Q&A]

It's all too easy to criticise, but not being a businessperson myself (or rather: being a total financial failure at every business I've ever attempted) I'm not the ideal person to give business advice.

And one must appreciate the fact that - while networks catering for writers and hosted by publishing houses are dropping like flies all over Internet (Authonomy is the only other one that I joined, hosted - I believe - by Random House. It shut up shop about a month after I signed up, but I'm a member of a closed Facebook group of former Authonomy users.) - W&As is hanging in there, offering a very welcome oasis at which we writers (and artists) can support each other.

For which they have my heartfelt thanks.

As for their editing services: Although I've never used them, I find it very curious (read: bizarre) that their top-of-the-line offer is to edit 50% of your ms (no matter how long: prices depending on how long the full ms is) and leave you to self-edit the other 50%.

I have asked myself if this is due to their conviction that fledgling authors need to be encouraged (read: obliged) to learn the rules of editing for themselves... or due to incomplete potty training.

I wonder if you submitted a ms of 180,000 words where the first 90,000 were yer actual novel, innit, and the last 90,000 words were:

"But, Nigel! What could you be thinking of?"

"But, Nigel! What could you be thinking of?"

"But, Nigel! What could you be thinking of?"

"But, Nigel! What could you be thinking of?"

"But, Nigel! What could you be thinking of?"

"But, Nigel! What could you be thinking of?"

"But, Nigel! What could you be thinking of?"

"But, Nigel! What could you be thinking of?"

"But, Nigel! What could you be thinking of?"

"But, Nigel! What could you be thinking of?"

"But, Nigel! What could you be thinking of?"

"But, Nigel! What could you be thinking of?"

(and so on) ... they would do a full edit on your full [90,000-word] novel.

Mind you, they might hit you with a hefty bill and edit the 2nd half, advising you that there's too much repetition to hold the reader's attention.
