Hi, I met an agent just over a week ago and he requested the whole manuscript, which I sent to him, following all the guidelines that he emailed me.
I was wondering how long it might take for him to get back to me, and what I'm more likely to get as response: rejection or good news?
Due to some unusual circumstances I met him before I sent in any sample chapters, but I somehow managed to pitch the book in person and he seemed really interested and we began some communication, which led to him asking for the whole thing, by email, when his agency is post submissions only.
Are these good developments or am I only getting my hopes up for no reason? I've never had an legitimate agent express such interest as he did, but I don't want to email and annoy him with questions on when I'll find out if he liked my novel.
Thanks. (the stress is kind of freaking me out at this point.) :)
Thanks guys for all the advice and the support. :)
At least 3 months (12 weeks).
There's often an #askagent session on Twitter of a Sunday night (UK time) often involving Juliet Mushens (The Agency Group), Juliet Pickering (Blake Friedmann), and Julia Chuchhill (AM Heath), among others. The time question is often asked then if you wanted confirmation.
Given that it's Frankfurt from the 9th, I'd give an extra few weeks to your wait time.
Keep on sending out those submissions in the mean time, and good luck.
Good Luck Kimberley! Hope you do receive the best news! :)
I would say wait for a month at the very extreme and then mail him courteously asking about the book!
But I guess other can give you better opinion, I still am at the helm of completing! :)
Again Good Luck!
