A fun question. who are...?

Who are your favourite contemporary and traditional authors. One contemporary and one traditional from each country of your choice.

UK. Jane Austen - Michael Morpurgo

USA. Nathaniel Hawthorne - Sharon Creech

I struggle to think of pairs of authors from other countries.

I studied Pride & Prejudice at school and still find the story captivating, that combined with the fact that it has lasted in so many incarnations for so long (I have heard rumours that the BBC are planning a sequel of sorts), I would have to say Jane Austen

More modern would have to be, and probably always will be, David Eddings (if you love a bit of Epic Fantasy like me)

Is probably a reflection of my own reading that they are both dead...

I Just looked it up. Lovely poem. Really makes you think. I'd have to read it many times to fully appreciate it. But I do understand what he's saying.

We are lucky to have first editions of 'The Outline of Sanity', 'All Things Considered' and 'Generally Speaking'. We love his style and command of English. We found them for pennies in an old book store.
