Who are your favourite contemporary and traditional authors. One contemporary and one traditional from each country of your choice.

UK. Jane Austen - Michael Morpurgo

USA. Nathaniel Hawthorne - Sharon Creech

I struggle to think of pairs of authors from other countries.

Replies

George Orwell, G. K Chesterton, Richard Bach .... too many to list.

Good question!

UK - George Orwell (maybe Emily Bronte) and David Almond

Japan - Murakami and (though I don't think he counts as especially traditional) Yukio Mishima

US - Hm. More of a blind spot here. Tennessee Williams and Edgar Allan Poe for classics, but for contemporary I'm not sure!
