Got to love London

I've never been to the UK but I've watched films and grown to love the place. I particularly love London! I would like to write a story with it's setting in London. What can I do to make sure I've best described London in my story?

I think you need to research maps, look at images and like Louise said google maps. I have been lucky to have travelled quite a bit despite the fact I am still quite young, however being a fantasy writer I have never directly written about any of those places just taken inspiration from them.

Going to new places is brilliant for inspiration. Never been to Kenya, always wanted to though :)

Am going to through a cat among the pigeons here I'm sure. When writing about Sherlock Holmes I believe that he used a london map. I don't think he had visited London when starting to write about Sherlock.

Hi Cressida,

Thanks. I love how London is a modern city yet it's retained it's ancient looking buildings. They are so beautiful! I also love how there are parks within the city. At home(Nairobi, Kenya) we don't have such. Oh and I also love those little red brick houses:)

Hi Louise,

I haven't traveled much so if I would write about a city I know well it would be Nairobi. I hope one day I will be able to tour London. Thanks so much!!
