How did you start your novel?

Did you steam in Medias Res on the first page, or start somewhere in the middle? Perhaps you started at the end and worked backwards.

my novel I thought started at the beginning but during a rewrite it decided it needed a new first chapter, I have no control over where my stories go, for me it's like watching a film in my head and I just follow, I don't plan, I can't the story is what it makes itself. I sometimes wish I could be like other people who can sit down plan and know what is going to happen and who with, at least that way you know when its finished. hope that makes sense to everyone. So to answer the original question, which is after all what I was supposed to be doing, I start at the beginning...

Regards Paul.

Mine was a short story Adrian. I started in the present, went back in to the past and ended

it in the present.

My book started with a song I fall in love with and a piece of a movie that capture my heart. I get excited when I think of them and what they would. Usually my book starts in the middle then the end and finally the beginning. Once I figure out my characters journey, I know where it should and then how to begin

In the end I think of where it all began.
