How far are you into you novel?

I am about to start editing the last section of my chivalric romantic novel which has elements of fantasy.

What do find the most difficult aspects of writing a novel?

Replies

Hi Victoria.

I am eager to start book two in my series because I do not enjoy the editing process.

I have the Beginning, Middle and End of books Two and Three, but only the Beginning and End of book Four. I hope to write a series of Eight books.

I have done many edits, but I cannot resist tweaking either. I am never happy with anything I write. Every word has to earn its keep. I have reduced the word count. But I am left with 127,000 words.

The genre is chivalric romance with elements of fantasy. I have no intention of reducing the word count further at this stage. If I secure an Agent in the new year, I will be guided by their knowledge of publishing.

Good luck.

The most difficult part is calling it finished. I know the first book in my series of six is finished. I've spent any writing time I've had this year making sure of it, but I still can't resist tweaking and saying 'Just one more read through...'
