How to paste the story plot

Hi everyone. Recently I have been working on my story called Columbia. I have already written up five chapters to the story. I just wanted to know if anyone had any ideas on how to make the plot of the story last longer without finishing to soon?

If any one could give some advise that would be great :)

I could not agree more that just writing tends to lead somewhere else a lot of the time. If in doubt just write something, even if this is a name, a place and something that happened there.

I try not to get hung up on names and places too much but write what I think, the rest will hopefully fall into place. At least it has so far, that way I turned the 46 chapter plan for my first novel into 61
