The Ideal Hero

Right from ancient and heroes of old like Hercules, to Harry Potter and Katniss Everdeen, What's YOUR ideal hero? And how would he/she be?

I'd say my ideal hero is an anti-hero, I find them terribly interesting- take Walter White from Breaking Bad.

I agree that a hero needs to have some sort of flaw or weakness to make them a compelling character that readers will want to follow. We mortals aren't going to relate to a super hero who finds everything easy. (I think Superman did have difficulties in addition to kryptonite, by the way; his people skills were a bit dubious if you ask me.

A contrasting side to their personality also makes their good deeds seem all the more heroic if the reader knows they have to struggle to get out of bed in the morning just like the rest of us.

Maybe there could be a superhero(ine?) who has to catch the baddies and get them all in jail before the school run?

Paul, totally agree with you about the dog in Wallace and Gromit. Great character.

My ideal hero is someone who speaks out and takes action.

They could be from any background and in any situation but they should listen to their heart and do something about the injustice they see.
