Hello, I'm starting a new novel and I was wondering where you get your ideas from. I'm kind of lost at the moment. Its been pretty much a year and a half since I wrote my last work (been editing and sorting out submissions since) and a wee bit out of tune.
Thanks,
I always have my i pad with me! I just type out my ideas and store them! Whenever I feel like writing, I look up my ideas and expand one of them!
Good Luck and Enjoy writing! :)
Depends what kind of book you are writing. personally I carry a note book everywhere I go, I people watch, if I see an interesting person I will watch them for a while and take notes about their mannerisms, the way they walk, look at things etc. From there I will then develop that character to suit my book, but by watching someone you will have their height, size ,shape , hair colour the way they walk, talk, Etc. just my way I find this works for me. good luck.
I always seem to have the next idea at least a year before I write the book so one tip is to always keep a plot bunny in the back of your mind, growing ready for your next project.
Roald Dahl kept an ideas book. He'd write a short paragraph when something came to him and when he had nothing else to be working on, he returned to the book to see which ideas could be expanded. I used to keep a computer file for the same purpose, but it's one of those things that really needs to be in a notebook.
