Hello...my name is Sharon. I am wondering if anyone has had any dealings with Austin Macauley because I went through the process of sending cover letter, synopsis and samples of my work, they liked it, sent me a letter asking for full manuscript, they liked that and then I received a contract through the post, but were asking for an amount of money. Can anyone enlighten me as to whether or not this company is legitimate please.
I have just had the same offer. They like my book -but because I'm a first timer they want a large contribution but just the same royalties. I'm thinking to use a legitimate self publisher. Cheaper and keep all my rights.
Sharon - I have just had the same offer from Austin Macauley after sending through my full manuscript. They felt, as a new author, that they aren't able to offer me a non contributory based contract but they can offer me a contribution based contract as a partnership.
Like yourself I am not sure what to do. I take on the advice of Simon in the post above but I'm not sure if this is just part of the way they do things now. Has anyone got any other advice on the subject?
I have had the same deal offered to me. I approached them because they have a good reputation. But I am also very weary, they love the book but because I am NEW as they say they will not risk my work.
I feel I also may have to pass.
