Organisation Calling Itself 'IPR License'

I have had an email from the above organisation.

Beginning with the headline question "are you looking for a publisher or an agent?" they are offering me a "...ground-breaking platform (on) writers can list their work, add a preview, (which) it will then automatically be entered in the search used by Member Publishers and Agencies from around the world".

Basically for 95 quid they will put your name on a list somewhere, to be seen somewhere, by someone at some time.

Am I being cynical in thinking that this is a complete waste of money, (especially as the original headline appears deceptive to say the least)?

David,

Yes they do give a UK address:

IPR License

2 London Wall Buildings

London, Eng EC2M 5UU

United Kingdom

They offer to showcase an Author's work on their site and also offer a service, allegedly, to Agents and Publishers to 'discover new work for potential representation via unpublished work added to the platform directly by authors' - for which they charge THEM

a thousand pounds (median amount).

As Publishers and Agents are not exactly short of new material to review (they keep telling me that they are snowed under) I can't see any sense in this. Ironically I already have a publisher and three have shown an interest in my next work, but this just looks to me like another attempt to try to rip off unpublished authors.

Just checked Legend Press's website. It is them all right!

If my work was not good enough for them when I queried, I am not giving them my money to make them say it is! LOL

I had this same email yesterday. When I clicked on unsubscribe, it took me to a page with the title "Legend Press".

Interestingly, I submitted to them once. I think it is poor practise to put people on a mailing list simply because they approached your organisation with a query, but then again, maybe it is nothing to do with them.
