Playing with rules

Is it just me or does anyone else get frustrated about rules in writing. Whenever I try to do something a bit different, which is I suppose most of the time I get feedback on rules in writing. I like writing that makes me think and question. Ie I just entered a comp that encouraged people to play with structure and the feedback I got was the structure was wrong. I feel a bit lost...

I guess its a case of knowing the rules so you know which ones can be bent or broken and when. Surely if that never happened, writing would never evolve.

Hi Rosie,

A response to the 'rules'. If all writers follow them where does true creativity come in.

Writing Chronologically, huh? that is something I NEVER stick to- I enjoy confusing the reader, and I don't mind, coz I always have a handy little timeline/calander with me ;D

The diary... yes, that holds the problem, but I like the way you've done it... Hmm... let's see... if you, like... This woman is, well, tbh, messed up, right? so... Well, the only way I see it realistically is a doctor/ psychologist forcing her to keep a diary OR she has OCD and she keeps a diary... (does she have OCD? it sounds like an extreme case of OCD) anyway... she writes, and the writes turn into scribbles and places...

If I am confusing you, TELL ME TO SHUT UP!
