Hi everyone, I have just contacted Bloomsbury regarding the possibility of setting up a Poetry Corner. Would you please let me know your thoughts and opinions regarding this. Also if you support this proposal then give it the thumbs up, I am hoping Bloomsbury will seriously look into setting something up. But we need to show them that there are enough people interested in poetry to warrant its own section. So please click on and give it your support.

A poetry section is an excellent idea. As for the poetry doesn't pay argument, look for example at Pam Ayres, and Carol Anne Duffy (poet laureate).

If you look at some of the poetry competitions going the top prizes are quite high.

Considered on a payment per word basis, a limerick can be more profitable than a novel and a lot less time-consuming to write.

I'd be interested to know what Adrian considers "the less challenging forms of poetry".

Hi Elizabeth, I agree with you regarding the financial gain. Not everybody writes to gain profit some write because of the love to express feelings and emotions. The reason I like to write poetry is it doesn't need the depth of a story. yet you can still tell a story if that makes sense. You can put a poem together in a flash and it can be the best piece of work you have ever done. But to do the same with a novel can take you eons. I do hope that Bloomsbury will seriously look at having a poetry section, I think it will draw more people to the site that might otherwise not of bothered. Lets hope we can make a change.
