Publish and be damned!

If a short story has been uploaded to this (or any) website for feedback, does that mean it's been published and therefore ineligible for future short story competitions? Would be a shame if the good feedback received from this site meant the story was no longer usable!

Has anyone had this type of experience previously?

Hi Simon - good point. I will bear that in mind. Many thanks.

Competitions increasingly specify specifically whether blogs count as being published - some do, some don't. For critique you're probably fine - and you can always take it down.

Phew! Thanks Debbie-Ellen and Jonathan, I didn't think it would be a problem but you know how we writers like to 'dramatise' these things! I will let you know how I get on. Thanks again. Mark.
