I want to dabble in a bit of pulp fiction, just to try something new and stretch myself a little bit. I still haven't found a niche I'm fully comfortable with and trying new things is a lot of fun! Can you recommend any good examples of pulp fiction that I could look at or reference?
Thanks!
From my understanding, it was a type of fiction rom the 1920s and 1930s that appeared in magazines that were made from cheaper paper pulp (as opposed to glossy mags). The stories were supposed to be highly entertaining and a bit "throw-away" and so were quite sensational and fast moving. They are pretty broad-brush and use a lot of stereotypes in order to maintain pace. Popular story lines include the hard-boiled crime with private detectives, or alien invasions. You also have the weird and wonderful, and romance. In fact you could use this style to convey any type of story, from fantasy to horror. (I hope I got that all right! Please feel free to correct me if my definition is a little off.)
Might be a silly question but what exactly is pulp fiction I've heard it mentioned before :)
I'll check that out :o)
